More Stipes

Doug and Kim came on Saturday afternoon and flew out on Monday night. We crammed in as much as we could in 3 short days. Sunday was morning meeting at Auntie Vi's and then gospel meeting in Waimea in the afternoon. In between meetings we zipped over to the job for a quick tour and a stop at Tex's for Malasadas. After gospel meeting we went out to dinner with Larry Taylor, (who is Doug's cousin) and Bill Brown. Monday was our BIG day...we hiked to Kealakekua Bay (2 miles 1400 ft. elevation change), snorkeled and then hit Kua Bay at sunset for a bit of boogie boarding. Then back to the condo for a bite to eat and off to the airport. It was loads of fun!!
We were a little early to morning meeting so we stopped at
this overlook above Kona and took a few pictures.

Orchids growing on the rock wall by Auntie Vi's.

A quick stop at the dairy.
Monday morning we headed to Kealakekua Bay for snorkeling.

It's a 2 mile hike down....which isn't bad....it's the 2 miles back up after snorkeling that is hard.

This box fish got the ugliest fish award.

Taking our lunch break.

While walking around on the rocks after lunch,
Doug spotted these whales...playing around across the bay.

I think this is two whales....the back of one and the tail of the other.

Definitely a tail here.

They both spouted.

It would have been amazing to be in this boat.

Perfect tail.

Kim being her silly self, and Doug going along with it.

My very own Frankenstein.

Happy Valentine's Day, early!!

We went out for a second snorkel and saw this honker!!

Almost made it out....this is our resting spot, about 15 minutes from the top.

On the way down, I lost my camera case.  Someone found
it and left it where I couldn't miss it on the way back up...Thank you!

We had an awesome time...thanks Doug and Kim for coming and seeing us!!
