There is a hike just out of Waimea that we have been wanting to do
for some time now...and we finally did it.
You head up to the end of White Rd. and then hike for
a couple of miles and you end up overlooking Waipio Valley.
This is what the country side looks like at the end of White Road. |
After climbing over a couple gates you end up in Kohala Forest Reserve. |
Wild flowers along the way. |
Hamakua Ditch |
Bamboo |
This is actually the roots of a very large tree that is uprooted. |
Beautiful textures and colors of moss. |
When you are almost to the viewpoint there are several towering sequoias |
At the viewpoint. |
A narrow trail to the left...past a warning sign....and on we go. |
It is hard to capture the expanse of the scenery in a picture... .but it was straight down...you can't see the bottom...and straight up. |
It was a great "Saturday hike". |
Awesome when the wild flowers are orchids!! |
Incredible "tree ferns". |
